The Articles of Impeachment
The full text of the articles of impeachment and roll call of votes.
- Official information is available from the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, including the PDF version (16.4MB) of the short version of the report (which excludes the Appendices and Supplemental Materials).
- C-SPAN: Investigation of the President is a site full of complete resources both written, audio, and visual.
- The Yahoo! Full Coverage of the Clinton Impeachment process contains a wealth of links.
- If you're willing to make the effort, you can find some good background and context at CNN/Time AllPolitics. However, the site is difficult to navigate. AllPolitics takes the facts, organizes them, and adds a dash of opinion. This is helpful amidst the overwhelming information which is available.
Note: I have carefully chosen all of the best resources on the Web for this Clinton Impeachment page. My top priorities were content and speed. I have therefore searched for the smallest files which contain the appropriate content. For those with a fast Internet connection (or the media), the most complete resource is the complete referral in PDF format, which contains every page which the House of Representatives has released to the public, and is downloadable by major sections.
This is what the Constitution says about impeachment.
"I am pleased to sign into law S.24, the Independent Counsel Act...a foundation stone for the trust between the Government and our citizens. It ensures that no matter what party controls the Congress or the executive branch, an independent, nonpartisan process will be in place to guarantee the integrity of public officials and ensure that no one is above the law...
"In fact, the independent counsel statute has been in the past and is today a force for Government integrity and public confidence...
"This is a good bill that I sign into law today; good for the American people and good for their confidence in our democracy."
(As quoted in "The Limbaugh Letter" of September 1998, page 11.)
